OLYMPIA. This afternoon, long time Olympia realtor and political newcomer, Spence Weigand, announced that he is a candidate for Olympia City Council, position 7. “We need new blood on the city council because what they’ve been doing is just not working.” said Weigand, “I believe that my knowledge, skills, and background make me well prepared to serve on the council as we fix the long-standing problems facing our community”.
Spence Weigand is a fourth-generation Olympian and a graduate of Whitman College. He is a well-known realtor and has enjoyed 25 years of success in real estate in the Thurston region. According to Weigand, “Coming out of COVID-19 our most pressing community problems remain. We need to create more affordable housing, improve small business vitality, and address the root causes of homelessness.”
Spence Weigand is generous supporter of Olympia non-profit organizations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Washington Center. He enjoys golf, travel, reading and New York Times crossword puzzles. Weigand is happily married with three wonderful adult children in their 20’s and resides on the westside of Olympia.
